“Valentina” Debut
March 24th, 5:00PM
TSC Performing Arts Center
90 Taylor Avenue Browsnville TX 78520
Doors Open at 4:00PM
Special Opening Performance by Allegro Ballet School
Ballet Nepantla presents a synergistic celebration with its production of
“Valentina,” a historical ballet that celebrates the strength and resilience of
women during Revolutionary Mexico.
“What New York City Ballet’s George Balanchine did with the
folkloric dances of his native Russia, Ballet Nepantla is doing with the folkloric dances of Mexico.” (New York Latin Culture Magazine,
February 2019)
The way dancers show emotion in hand stretches and
foot movements make the traditional “zapateado” look more modern. “It can serve as an example to encourage other Latino children to fight to achieve their dreams.” – Estefanía Hernández, El Diario NYC (September 2017)
“Valentina” explores the in-between-ness of cultures within the realm of dance, harmonizing traditional Mexican Folklorico with contemporary and classic ballet.
Founder and Artistic Director Andrea Guajardo is a native of the Rio Grande Valley and looks forward to engaging Valley audiences through Ballet Nepantla’s artistic innovation.
